What Is a Currency Converter?

The Currency Converter changes an amount from one currency to another using built-in reference rates, entirely in your browser.

A currency converter changes an amount of money from one currency into another using an exchange rate — the price of one currency expressed in terms of another. Rates move constantly with global markets, so a converter gives you a quick reference figure for travel budgets, online shopping, invoices and comparing prices across countries, without doing the multiplication by hand.

Converting Currencies

  1. Enter the amount to convert.
  2. Choose the source and target currencies (use the swap button to reverse them).
  3. Read the converted amount and the unit exchange rate.

Use Cases

  • Travellers budgeting a trip and understanding prices in a foreign currency.
  • Online shoppers comparing the cost of an item priced in another currency.
  • Freelancers and businesses quoting or checking invoices across borders.
  • Anyone following exchange rates or converting between major world currencies.

How Conversion Works

Converting is a single multiplication: amount in the target currency = amount × (rate of target ÷ rate of source). To handle any pair, the tool stores each currency’s value against a common base (such as the US dollar) and converts through it, so it can go from, say, euros to yen without needing a direct euro-to-yen quote. The reference rates are built in and refreshed periodically.

Because the conversion runs against reference rates loaded into the page, it works entirely on your device and even offline. Note that real-world rates shift moment to moment and banks add a spread, so a converter is ideal for estimates and comparisons rather than the exact figure of a live trade.

Benefits

  • Get a quick estimate when budgeting or shopping abroad.
  • Works offline — no API calls and no data leaves your device.
  • Runs entirely in your browser — your figures stay private.

Currency Conversions Stay Private

Currency conversion is performed using exchange rates in JavaScript algorithms running in your browser. Your amounts and the currencies you select are processed entirely locally on your device — no financial data is transmitted to any server.

FAQ

Are the exchange rates live?

Not live. The converter reads rates from a file that is refreshed daily, so it works fully offline but is not a second-by-second market feed. For exact figures, check a live source.

Which currencies are supported?

Major currencies including USD, EUR, GBP, BRL, JPY, CAD, AUD, CHF, CNY, INR and MXN.

Will my currency amounts be logged?

No. Currency conversion is a local JavaScript operation. Your amounts and currency choices remain on your device only.

Are the exchange rates live?

The converter uses built-in reference rates that are refreshed periodically rather than a live market feed, so it runs entirely in your browser. It is ideal for quick estimates and comparisons; for an exact live trade, check with your bank or provider.
